Posers beware, from the out backs of Simi
Valley comes a band ready to clean house - W3G. I met with
the band on a dreary afternoon at the infamous rock-n-roll
party spot The Rainbow Room. W3G consists of Ryan on Vocals,
Ian on Guitar, Bob on Drums and Chris on Bass.
PW:
So first off tell me what W3G stands for?
W3G:
Well basically W3G stands for White Trash Third Generation.
We live in the capital of white trash Simi Valley.
Remember Rodney King?

PW:
So what’s new with the band?
W3G:
It was time for a change. We want to concentrate on the
music and become a show through our music rather then some
gimmick on stage. We also have written a whole new set of
songs.
PW:
So you guys want to be taken seriously as a band?
W3G:
So many bands out there are just a joke. We are out to have
fun but want to be known as a band rather then a comedy
routine.

PW:
So you guys want to be taken seriously as a band?
W3G:
So many bands out there are just a joke. We are out
to have fun but want to be known as a band rather than a
comedy routine.
PW:
O.K now we established you’re a band using music rather
then a gimmick like so many other bands do to gain success.
So who influences you guys musically?

W3G:
Our influences vary, but basically anything that rocks.
Chris is influenced from old school punk rock to Frank Zappa.
Bob's more old school metal. Ian is also influenced by old
rock 'n' roll, for example AC/DC. Ryan is influenced by
aggressive rock-n-roll - Guns and Roses and Motley Crew.
The more real the music the better.
PW:
O.K so is it staying real to sell-out?
W3G:
Selling out would be shooting ourselves in the foot. Bands
that do not sell-out have longevity.
PW:
So you want to be more original then the typical band out
there?

W3G:
It seems that all the bands out there right now try to sound
like what is popular at the given time. All these new bands
want to sound like Incubus. We are not like that and this
is what draws people to our shows. We are a straight rock-n-roll
band. The crowd can see through the MTV bullshit and bands
influenced by their record label. We write and play from
the heart basically just good old rock-n-roll.
PW:
It seems that many bands become successful from one single
song. Does your band have one song that you are hoping to
help launch your career?
W3G:
We really do not have any single unique song that sticks
out. We just like to write good songs that people can relate
to.
PW:
You mean write about real life?
W3G:
Exactly writing from real life is what drives us lyrically.
We hate those bands that write about things that are not
real. So many bands out there are so fake and write songs
that people cannot relate to.

PW:
So what bands would you guys like to tour with.
W3G:
We would really tour with anyone. The more people at our
shows the better.
PW:
What do you guys think of the bands touring right now?
W3G:
It might sound cocky, but you go out to a concert and 3
out of 15 bands playing might be original. Also there are
too many bands that gain popularity on a gimmick. As we
said before, we do not want to gain popularity through a
gimmick, but through our music and live performance. Take
away the gimmick and you will see how crappy these bands
really are.

PW:
So what would you say to those who say using a gimmick
is good because it launches their popularity?
W3G:
People may think what they want about us and believe we
take ourselves too seriously. But even fools need to take
life seriously sometimes.
