If you can believe it, the Rolling Stones on Monday announced they will be playing a FREE show in Los Angeles scheduled for February 6th @ Staples Center. This would be the band's first free show since the Altamont fiasco 33 years ago when Hells Angels (acting as security guards) turned the event into a bloodbath. Their publicity firm promises this will be a "more sedate" affair, and is intended to raise awareness for Global Warming. Fans can apply for tickets at:

Joe Strummer
R.I.P.

Punk pioneer and former head of "The Clash" Joe Strummer has died. According to his record label, he passed away peacefully last Sunday in Western England - the cause of death was unknown at the time. Strummer, age 50, was known for explosive performances and a rebellious attitude. The band released such hits as "Should I Stay or Should I Go?", "Rock the Casbah" & "London Calling".

"London Calling" is regarded by many as one of the best records of the 80's and one of the best rock'n'roll albums of all time.

Suge popped on
parole violation -
back in jail

Yes, it's true, Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested on Monday, December 23rd by LA Sheriff's Deputies. The 37 year old head of 'Tha Row' (formerly Death Row Records) was popped after meeting with his parole officer. The reason for the arrest was allegations of "consorting with known gang members", which is specifially forbidden in his prison release requirements. I'm sure this comes as a huge shock to many of our loyal readers.

Black Crowes calling it quits?

Looks like this Southern bluesy rock band may be calling it quits ... at least for the time being. Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson was quoted in the January issue of "Spin Magazine" as saying: "It's like any relationship ... when it dissolves, no matter how it dissolves, it's still raw." Robinson announced a year ago that the band was going on hiatus, while he pursued solo projects. His debut album "New Earth Mud" came out in October. Robinson, who co-founded the band with brother and guitarist Rich Robinson, have been known for their volatile "spirited" relationship ever since the bands inception.

Slipknot slipping?

According to singer Corey Taylor, the group's next release will likely be the grand finale for the nine member horror-metal band. Slipknot is scheduled to begin working with Rick Rubin on their third album in the beginning of '03. Taylor, along with Slipknot guitarist Jim Root, have been focusing primarily on their other band "Sour Stone" during these past few months.

Ryan Seacrest plagues airwaves New Years Eve 2002

If you didn't have plans to leave the house on New Year's Eve, this may prove all the reason you need to. It has been announced that Ryan Seacrest, the all too pretty-boy host of American Idol and LA radio personality, has been picked to host a televised concert from Las Vegas. The special will go head-to-head with Dick Clark's annual New Year's Eve broadcast. The concert will air on Fox starting at 11 pm, Eastern time, December 31st, and will include performances by Sheryl Crow, Sugar Ray & Ashanti. The Rolling Stones & Bon Jovi will appear in taped segments. Looks like we are gonna be seeing a lot more of this guy, like it or not.
