Well
since Publicity Whore is out there in the scene (aka:
the entertainment battlefield), we have decided to help
out all you homebodies by telling you what’s 'really
going on' outside. Hell, with coverage this good who
needs to leave the house! So, in its first installment,
is a section we like to call, ‘Publicity
Whore on the Town.’
Happenin'
Harry's Hell Hole
Social Distortion After Party
@ The Cat Club
8911 Sunset Blvd.
December 29, 2002

No,
Troy Ness (brother of Social Distortion's Mike Ness)
did
not make a deal with the Devil... at least that we know
of. But the name of Troy's new band is called "Devil's
Junction".

Being
the brother of a punk rock legend certainly cannot hurt,
but it's only one element of this highly talented group.
Troy Ness does an excellent job as a frontman with a
band to match, suggesting this group may blast past
the local scene and onto the Rockabilly circuit in the
months ahead.

Happenin' Harry, J-Boogie
and Mike Ness from Social D.
What’s
Happenin' Harry’s Hell Hole you ask? Well, It's
THE SPOT that on any given occasion you can find old
and new legends of rock and roll hanging out. It’s
a chill atmosphere with good people, reasonable drink
prices and all around probably the best event you are
going to find on a Sunday night in Hollywood. Hey, what
more can you ask for? Check out Happenin' Harry’s
website to find out this weekend's entertainment lineup.

Blackalicious
@ The Knitting Factory
7021 Hollywood Blvd.
December 30, 2002

"Gift
Of Gab showing his love for Publicity Whore!!"
Those
blazing arrows I speak of are those of the legendary
hip-hop group Blackalicious. Along for the ride were
Bizzart and Pentiva, two other names quickly emerging
on the Hip Hop scene. Pentiva kicked off the night by
throwing down some cool hippy hip-hop grooves. Next
up, coming straight from the hip-hop galaxy itself,
was the wild stylings of "Bizzart". He drops
his own social and political commentary, along with
space-age beats and a unique form of flow that really
is unlike anything else in the scene.

Bizzart- a true Publicity
Whore
The reason the Knitting Factory sold-out can be summed
up in one word: Blackalicious. If you haven’t
experienced a live Blackalicious show you gotta get
to one, and all I can say is they put on one hell of
an entertaining live performance.

Blackalicious
front man 'Gift of Gab' (look for the upcoming interview
in Publicity Whore) has incredible flow and goes
from some serious & deep-thought provoking shit,
to an upbeat mix of lyics and drum beats.

Also
Blackalicious brings out all the really cute hippy chicks
to their shows (the ones that actually shave their
legs!!) and some smokin Rasta babes. In fact, the
show was not the typical sausage party - as plenty of
other rock events are that I attend. (If you don’t
know what a sausage fest is, well, just spend some time
in a tiny little mountain town and you will soon find
out!!!)

And
for all you complaining about the negativity in hip-hop
affecting today’s youth, quit complaining and
do something positive for a change (gee imagine that-
Publicity Whore trying to spread a positive message.)
and pick up the latest album "Blazing Arrow"
by Blackalicious. This is one group you will be hearing
a lot more about.

New
Years Eve
with Nashville Pussy
& The Blare Bitch Project
@ the Whisky a go-go
8901 Sunset Blvd.
Without
question one of the best live shows you're ever gonna
see is Nashville Pussy. LA was lucky enough to get them
back one more time, thanks to Tissa @ the Whisky - making
sure LA's New Year's celebration didn't pass by without
a repeat performance.

The
band is a mix of downhome Southern Rock flavor, combined
with edgy stage antics that rookie bands out there could
learn some lessons from. THEY KNOW HOW TO ENTERTAIN!

Ruyter and J-Boogie
In
fact, Publicity Whore got turned on to the band
last
year (Nashville Pussy was voted the #1 live show for
2002.) It's a wild rocking show that pulls no punches.

Katielyn a hard-core rocking
chick!!
I
think pretty boy LA bands and wanna-be’s can learn
a lot from these gritty rock and roll pioneers on how
to play rude, in your face, balls to the walls, aggressive
rock and roll.

"Publicity Whore...tastes
great less filling!"

D.I.
@ The Key Club
9039 Sunset Blvd.
January 16, 2003

"That
wild and crazy punker-the one and only Casey Royer!!"
Watch
and learn punk rock posers from no other than those
"OG" punk rockers D.I. These characters have
made their mark in punk rock history and were around
back in the early days of punk rock (remember Suburbia?)
D.I have been around way before punk rock was considered
cool and acceptable by the masses. (like the Publicity
Whore staff really care what the majority of people
think!!)

"D.I - ripping it up
old school style"
D.I put on one hell of a show, and were a perfect opening
act for Marky Ramone and the Speed Kings. Casey still
rips up the mic with pure punk rock passion, combined
with the killer Key Club sound and stage lighting.

Casey-showing
the punk posers how its done!!
I’m just glad D.I have stayed true and are still
ripping it up after over twenty years in the punk rock
music scene. So if you are ready to experience some
hard hitting punk tunes, check out D.I. when they 'rip
it up', in a town near you.

Marky
Ramone and
the Speed Kings
@ The Key Club
9039 Sunset Blvd.
January 16, 2003

It’s the one and only Marky Ramone and the Speed
Kings. The Speed Kings- backed by Marky Ramones killer
drum beats - are proving that they are the real macoy
when it comes to playing rockabilly punk rock music.

I
am always stoked to see the OG punk rockers still staying
in the scene and playing punk rock music.

The
Ramones helped start the punk movement back in the 1970's,
so being able to see a true legend in punk rock perform
is a real blessing. Of course, everyone came for the
Ramones tunes, but the original tunes played by the
Speed Kings proved they were more than just a Ramones
cover band. The Speed Kings have some original tunes
that display their ability to produce great punk rock
hooks, riffs and beats. So I recommend checking them
out when they play in a town near you.

Dumfinger
@ The Coconut Teaszer
8117 Sunset Blvd.
Friday, January 17th, 2003

Now here's a band you should definitely check out -
Dumfinger. Fronted by Diamond Dan Soulsby, they played
a ripping show at The Coconut Teaszer promoting their
new track "Fat and Lazy," now scheduled for
nationwide airplay through Clear Channel. You should
call your local radio station and ask for "Fat
and Lazy," and listen to some of the FREE tracks
on their website. Another great site for updated Dumfinger
and LA Band info is www.burstmusic.net. They have a
full band profile on there, and were a Publicity Whore
"Musician of the Week" in 2001.

If
you haven’t checked these guys out, you're missing
a pop-punk band that really knows how to entertain a
crowd. Dumfinger also plays an inventive version of
Paul Simon classics. They are a hot up and coming band,
and one you definitely need to see play live.
Check

LA music info and a cool online
bulletin board to check out.
